What is a Chain of Infection?
A chain of infection is the progression of an infection and how it spreads, similar in many ways to a chain of command. This is because an infection can change as it moves through the body, and the bacteria that originally caused the infection could be totally different from the bacteria that results in the final infection.
For example, a lung infection bacterium may not look the same as a kidney infection bacterium, however they may started from the same exact bacteria. This is because bacteria can change based on the environment and the ingredients that are near them. As a result, the chain of infection can be different for each type of infection. (more…)

Avoiding Blood Infection by Early Treatment of Bacterial Infections
Persons diagnosed as having a blood infection must be treated quickly before the infection is spread to other areas of the body, which can cause serious problems throughout the system as well as in vital organs. There are hundreds of different bacteria that can grow in or on the human body and once they make their way into the blood stream they are quickly spread. Some of them can attack the inner lining on the heart chambers, leading to fatal consequences.
In many instances, the blood infection can be avoided by prompt action and appropriate treatment of even minor cuts. By eliminating the possibility of infection at a wound site, the growing bacteria will be destroyed before it can make their way into the blood, where they can grow and be transported throughout the body. Sepsis is one of the most common, as well as most dangerous, forms of blood infection that can quickly cause damage to many critical functions, leading to death. (more…)
Bacterial Infections
People become ill from two basic type of infections, bacterial and viral and the approach to curing each type is considerably different. In fact, each type of infection has many variations, making diagnosis of the type important to affect a cure. With a bacterial infection, different bodily functions can be affected and making sure the patient receives the right anti-bacterial medication is paramount to a cure.
Bacteria can be considered as living organisms, since they do not require a living host on or in which to grow. Bacteria can grow in non-living surfaces such as countertops and are easily transferred from one surface to another. A bacterial infection can be the result of the bacteria being picked up by the hands from a non-living surface and moved to another surface or to a human being. The type of bacteria bacterial infection from which a person suffers is often indicated by the symptoms they exhibit. (more…)
