Gum Infection and Its Consuequences

If you have ever been bothered by a slight pain where the teeth meet the gums, think back on what you have recently eaten that may have been jammed between the gums and your teeth. Crunchy foods are easily caught in these areas and unless removed through proper oral hygiene can lead to a gum infection that can be both painful and troublesome. Typically, food particles that are left to decay on their own not only exacerbate the problems associated with a gum infection, but they can also make your breath take on the odor of the rotting food. Infections and Children

Just keeping up with your children can be a full time job - and even then you can’t be sure you see everything that happens. They get up to so many different things, hide away in the most improbable places and run ahead of you so fast that they can end up hurting themselves without you fully realizing it.

Smaller children are probably easier to keep in your sights, but maybe it’s the ones that are just a little older, so they can play outside, that need the most care. What is a Chain of Infection?

A chain of infection is the progression of an infection and how it spreads, similar in many ways to a chain of command. This is because an infection can change as it moves through the body, and the bacteria that originally caused the infection could be totally different from the bacteria that results in the final infection.

For example, a lung infection bacterium may not look the same as a kidney infection bacterium, however they may started from the same exact bacteria. This is because bacteria can change based on the environment and the ingredients that are near them. As a result, the chain of infection can be different for each type of infection. (more…)
